My painting is a glorification of the beauty that is every life.
Text published in the catalogue of the Life, After All. Exhibition of paintings by Wojciech Cieśniewski.
My pictures are in reparation to the victims of violence, a glorification of the beauty that is every life.
My painting is a form of confession, an admission of the desire for and pursuit of self-definition, a manifesto of beliefs and ideas. It is – as I have repeatedly written – an expression of the longing for an aesthetic and ethical ideal of Beauty; while life, in both its individual and community aspects, is a form of compromise.
This exhibition, here in Otwock, is a gift to me from all those who have believed that I can do good with my paintings. I am grateful that, with the help of people close to me, all I dreamed of and often couldn’t even name has been brought into the public sphere.
I hope this exhibition will bring to you, the viewers of my paintings, values worth including in the creation of our lives.
